Hemal Naran is a globally experienced investment professional with over two decades of experience across institutional asset management, alternative investments and African markets. He currently serves as Chief Investment Officer (Independent) at SouthBridge Investments, overseeing multi-asset strategies across private equity, asset-backed lending, climate transition and microfinance investments across the continent. Hemal previously held senior roles including Head of Investment and Actuarial at the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), one of Africa’s largest institutional investors, and Fund Manager for Alternative Assets at Pension Services Limited in the UK, where he built and managed diversified alternative portfolios. A qualified actuary by training with additional CAIA and IMC credentials, Hemal brings deep expertise in portfolio construction, risk management, ESG integration and governance. He has served on numerous investment committees, including the World Health Organisation and UN-supported PRI structures, reflecting his strong commitment to responsible investment and long-term value creation
